White Man Wanderer
White Man Wanderer is a personal story told through typographic work exploring the theme of Lost. It aims to investigate the widest interpretation of the theme of historical, cultural and global perspectives that my grandfather experience when being lost in the town of Bruggen in Germany late Germany WW2, drawing upon the different eras, societies, social groups, generations he experience while being lost in the county for over two months after a late motorcycle accident, the publication becomes more selective and discerning after you read though the experience of being trapped in county you are unfamiliar within captures the heart of the story. My research was undoubtedly uncovering a breadth of information – everything you read and understand is profound to the ridiculous reflecting through the typographical element created in the publication.
My main focus as a designer was to capture the tenor of the communication while remain interesting for reader. It is a serious, forensic interrogation of a theme that was so personal to me as a designer, and though it is a it a little more light-hearted the more you discover while reading it starts to have very specific and singular narrative drive that becomes more eclectic, fun and informative through the narrative presented thought my grandads recollection of the memory. Whatever the case, you will likely lose yourself in this theme through the creation of typographic tour-de-force that pleases the eye and stimulate the brain.
